This weeks Photo Friday theme was "Symbol", which I thought was easy enough, so naturally I didn't think about it again until this morning. Typical. While scrambling some eggs for breakfast I inadvertently got the lyrics to the Beastie Boys song "Egg Man" stuck in my head. This happens more often than I care to admit, actually. It seems for every comment, and most every event in life, there's some pop culture switch that turns on in my brain...and for the most part it's either Beastie lyrics or one-liners from Friends.
So there I was, rhymin' the rhyme well and gettin' my breffis on, when I get to the words "the egg, a symbol of life..." Hey. Symbol. Photo Friday. Egg. I shall take a picture of an egg! How completely...boring. Oh well, it'll be easy. So I eat. Watch TV. I dink around the batcave attempting to do some organization. Watch TV.
I watch more TV (hey...it's my Friday off...I don't have to do jack). Walk upstairs to raid the fridge. Oh yeah...eggs. Picture. Grab camera. After spending a good ten minutes trying to figure out how to make an egg "stand up" on it's own (because a "standing" egg is far more interesting than a "laying down" egg. Right.) without having to use props that I would have to photoshop out later (yes, Jeff, I realize that "photoshop" is not a verb)...I decided perhaps I'd just take a picture of the eggs in the carton. And of course as I'm taking the picture I'm pretending that the eggs are talking to each other in some witty fashion because that's what eggs do. And of COURSE...I still had "Egg Man" going the rounds in my head.
So there...a really long a boring explanation on how I got to this...
Again, quick and dirty...not to mention a bit corny. Someday I hope to put a bit more effort into these weekly challenges.
Glad to see you back, Jen. I've missed reading your blog posts. I'm enjoying your 'creative challenge' photos - they're great!
